Yep - some one has slapped a thingy on your browser so that when you go on line, their 'thingy' re-directs you to their site.

Dear me, what to do?

These 'thingys' which can attach to your browser are virtually impossible to get rid of.

One sure fire way of getting rid of these annoying thingys is to crash your PC back to it's original factory condition.

If you choose to do the above, do please copy all your files to disk - otherwise, wham! everything you've got saved on your hard disk will disapear somewhere into Cyber-thing.

If your computer recently installed a Microsoft Security Update, your proxy settings for Yahoo Messenger may have been changed. This answer will tell you how to check and correct them if this is the case.

If you have tried restarting your computer, signing in with your Yahoo e-mail prefix (without the @yahoo.com) and your e-mail password without sucess, and you are sure your caps aren't locked and your information is correct, your Yahoo! Messenger connection information may be incorrect. Follow these steps to configure your connection:

Solution 1.)

Click the Messenger menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "Connection Preferences."

Enable the "Firewall with no proxies" option.

Select the correct Internet connection type and country from the pull-down menus.

Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.

Yahoo! Messenger will ask you if you want to sign in again with your new proxy settings. Click the OK button.

Enter your Yahoo! ID and password and click the "Sign In" button.

The above configuration works in most situations. (However, if you connect in this way, you won't be able to use the Voice feature.) If this configuration doesn't work, follow these steps:

Click the Messenger menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "Connection Preferences."

Enable the "No network detection" option and then click the OK button at the bottom of the window.

Yahoo! Messenger will ask you if you want to sign in again with your new proxy settings. Click the OK button.

Enter your Yahoo! ID and password and click the "Sign In" button.

If neither of the above options work (sorry), you're probably behind a firewall or proxy server that requires you to enter its address. Follow these steps:

Click the Messenger menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "Connection Preferences."

Enable the "Use proxies" option.

Enter your firewall or proxy server's address and port number. Contact your network administrator (if you're at work), or your Internet service provider (if you're at home) to determine the correct firewall and proxy settings.

Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.

Yahoo! Messenger will ask you if you want to sign in with your new proxy settings. Click the OK button.

Enter your Yahoo! ID and password and click the "Sign In" button.

If you try all of the steps above and Yahoo! Messenger still can't connect, contact your network administrator, Internet Service Provider (ISP), or the person who initially set up your computer to ensure that your firewall and/or proxy settings are correct.

Solution 2.)

You may have accidently saved your ID or password with errors in it. To resolve this issue, clear your cache.

For Internet Explorer:

Click on: Tools

Click on: Internet options

Click on: Delete Cookies

Click on: Delete Temporary files

For Firefox:

Click on: Tools

Click on: Clear private data

Check: All the boxes

Click on: Clear private data now

Now try to log onto Yahoo Messenger.

Solution 3.)

If Step 1 and Step 2 don鈥檛 solve your sign in issue, try un-installing then re-installing Yahoo Messenger:

Close Yahoo Messenger

Click on: Start

Click on: Control Panel

Click on: Add/remove programs

Locate and remove Yahoo Messenger

It sounds like your PC is infected with a browser hijacker. Use these scans to remove it.

Browser Hijacker

Also known as: Hijacker

Software that tends to Hijack your browsers web connections to do their own purposes. They will change your homepage to another homepage no matter how many times you change it or you can do a search in Google, but instead of getting the results back from Google, your search request is actually hijacked and sent to another search engine.

All of these are ones that I personally use and all are free. After you install any of them, make sure you update them to get the full affect.

Spybot - Search %26amp; Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S%26amp;D is free.

A browser hijacker is a type of application that alters your computer's browser settings so that you are redirected to Web sites that you had no intention of visiting. Hi,

Thousands are having all kinds of problems with their mail since the new format, with Server Farm issues with Original Mail AND Beta Mail, several months ago!

Yahoo! and Sun Java are also having conflicts. Rather than trying to work around them, here is the easy and fastest way to cure them (for most). Go to Tools, open Internet Options, and select Advance tab. Scroll down the list and see if you have Microsoft Virtual Machine listed, if so, uncheck the 2 java鈥檚 listed. Make sure JIT is checked, click apply then ok. and then Close. This lets MSN virtual machine launch Yahoo! mail.

If you don't have MSN VM, get it here:

http://mad.msnfanatic.com/index.php/Down...

Also: you will have less problems with Mail if you sign in via Messenger! Go to preferences, general, then check box: Automatically sign me in when I click a Yahoo! link in Messenger. Then click on the little envelope icon on top of messenger box. Or go to My Yahoo and click on your mail link. Or click on the Big RED Y! on the Yahoo! Toolbar. Bottom line is any link that already has you signed in!!!

I recommend that you use Original Mail until beta works out the bugs. Just click on Switch Back on the top of your mail page. FYI, beta means TESTING. Go back to IE6 which works just fine and is problem free. It is still installed on your pc. Just go to Start, setting, and add/remove programs and delete IE7. If you are using Yahoo Mail Plus, and your server farm has problems, switch to the free service until things are worked out.

NOTE: Use beta software at your own risk; it is intended for testing and evaluation purposes only. Do not install beta software on your primary computer or production environment.

You may also need to update your Windows.

It sounds like your computer don't like you if that's possible.
Some websites automatically run a javascript to change your homepage to their own site. In some cases also it may be a virus.

first of all, check and make correction on "default homepage" setting here: menu bar %26gt; tools %26gt; internet options %26gt; general %26gt; homepage.

It will be corrected, if not, then you are facing a worm, or a virus. Thus lets perform a virus check...
Uninstall your IE and download and install it again from Microsoft.com,i think your windows copy is a genuine Microsoft one,so no problem as counterfeited software are most exposed to viruses,hijackers,trojans,adware-malware threats. You can use 'Mozilla Firebox' as it's fast and more safe from online threats.
Check your home page setting at the Internet Options from Tolls menu. Set to your favorite home page or choose auto blank.

Delete all cookies temporary Internet Files. Go Tools Menu, Internet Options, Clear History.
Hi,

You should use "NoAdware".It's very effective.I don't have anymore problems with spyware,pop-up,Trojan or viruses. Now, you can download and try for FREE.Check it out here:
