How do i stop internet explorer from redirecting me to netscape ?

If you are being redirected you need to check your system for a virus. There are viruses around that do nothing but redirect IE to other sites. Most of these redirects are not malicious. Just the work of some really bored anal retentive. A few of the viruses can only be eliminated by typing "Format C:\".

Do not format your computer. Formatting is a last resort and you would not do it by going to a command prompt in any case!

Most likely your Norton was either disabled by one of the rare malware's out there that will disable security or your Norton was not kept configured properly and/or kept up to date with the latest definitions... either way.

You can attempt a web based scan from http://housecall65.trendmicro.com which will scan for and attempt to remove malware.

Most likely if you're being redirected it is not something serious... probably some adware or spyware type stuff...

Most likely if you force live update on Norton and download the newest definitions you would be able to reboot and run a complete scan and it would detect and probably remove this malware. Although you do also need a version of Norton that includes antiadware / antispyware like Norton 360 so you may also need to upgrade your product for total protection.

Be very careful listening to people on here who are biased against Norton and trying to advertise some other crapware or people who are simply not techicians.

You can also contact Norton technical support since you pay for it... and if you don't feel comfortable performing these steps take it to a reliable and qualified technician.

Good Luck
